Remote Work for Social Good
Over 65% of India’s population stays in villages. That’s almost 900 million people! However, the rural economy contributes to only 46% of India’s GDP.
The village population is consuming more data than ever. Thousands of new villages are getting connected to the internet every month for the first time. However, only internet accessibility may not be sufficient to bridge the urban-rural gap in India.
Remote work could be a real gamechanger. For the first time in independent India’s history, people are realizing that work can be done from anywhere. Major Indian and global companies like Google, Facebook, TCS, and Infosys have decided to let the majority of their workforce work remotely until 2021 or beyond.
